Contactless heat measuring with the help of a thermovision camera (thermograpy, thermovision)
With the help of thermography you can measure the surface temperature of the observed object in a contactless manner.
Thermovision camera, placed in an airplane or helicopter, can measure electromagnetic radiation, emitted by the surveyed ojbect or the object we are looking for. These objects can be either above surface or hidden underneath it.

Surveyed or sought objects can be:
-
Productlines: water distribution, heat distribution, gas-lines, pipelines …. The seeking of productlines placed below as well as above the surface and their localization. The analysis of the distribution, diagnostics, failure detection, accident prevention, quality control of the line isolation.
-
Building heat losses: registration of heat leaks from building roofs and walls, surface photography of urban concentrations.
-
Tips, deposits, dumps, hoppers, contaminations, ecological burdens.
-
Geology, detection of tectonic deformations, contamination.
-
hydro-electric plants, dams, water pollution, sources of water pollution.
-
Climatic analysis, monitoring of urban agglomerations on tropical days.
-
Subterrranean construction, old workings, archeology.
-
Animal population monitoring.
How does thermography work?
The detector of the thermovision camera measures the electromagnetic radiation of the object in the infra-red area of the spectre. This band can be expressed numerically in the wave length interval from 0,75 µm to 1 mm.
The fact that the radiation directly depends on the surface temperature of the object (described by Planck's law, Wien's displacement law, Stefan-Boltzman law) enables the camera to measure a display this temperature.
The resulting heat map obtained by the thermovision photography is influenced by the features of the observed object himself and by the features of the environment the object is in.
That is why it is necessary to determine what is being observed by the used method during the analysis. The thermography can be especially used to monitor heat contrast manifestations.
When can thermography be used
Thermovision photography is relatively strict according to the weather conditions in which the measuring takes place. Clouds and their shades have a negative influence on the photography, as well as wind over 3m/s, high soil humidity, in some application vegetation or direct solar radiation can have a negative influence. The optimum time for the majority of applications is autumn and winter. It is suitable to perform the thermovision photography before sunrise and without snow cover.
