FastOrtho

 24. 10. 2007 — Do you need to quickly carry out the documentation of events in progress? Or do you need to use data in your GIS really fast? Thanks to FastOrtho, we will deliver you a current orthophotomap in a week’s time from the moment we take the photographs.

The FastOrtho product, originated from the developing section of GEODIS BRNO, enables you to significantly cut down the time for the orthphotomap processing. New processing technologies enables you to access data to e.g. crisis management units or for environment monitoring (floods, icebreaks) already within the period of few days of the photography.

Specialists working with information system are thus able to compare the current state with an earlier situation. The leading workers can make important decisions based on the information received from the FastOrtho.

Basic characteristics:

  • available for any area of the Czech Republic
  • significantly shorter processing time of the resulting orthophotomap
  • financially more available variation of orthphotomap
  • resolution up to 5 cm/pixel (according to the specifics given by the customer)
  • possibilities of measuring distances on the images
  • similiar nature and use like a orthophotomap
  • smaller resulting accuracy of the orthophoto - selection of 3 variations

Who will make use of the added value of FastOrtho?

  • crisis management units (monitoring of floods or man-induced catastrophies)
  • organizations active in the environment field (breaks monitoring, forestation, etc.)
  • traffic organization (monitoring of construction corridors)
  • city planners (construction and city planning)
  • institutions active in land-use planning
  • … and a whole line of other clients

Three levels of FastOrtho

  • FastOrtho LQ (low) - option L
  • FastOrtho HQ (medium) - option H
  • FastOrtho VHQ (high) - option V

FastOrtho LQ (L) has been developed so that aerial photographs are taken using an existing terrain model prepared by GEODIS BRNO and using the real-time recorded flight parameters of an inertial navigation system. The files from the inertial system are accompanied by records from GPS TOPNET references base stations owned by GEODIS BRNO, which are situated throughout the Czech Republic. In this case, it is possible to achieve an expected degree of accuracy in the resulting orthophotographs or mosaic orthophotomaps with an average error rate of Mxy = 5 – 7 times the pixel size in the resolution of the resulting orthophoto and better.

FastOrtho HQ (H) has been designed in a similar manner to the previous product, although photograph positions are ad-justed using the MATCH AT method at photogrammetric points from the GEODIS BRNO archive database, or on a DKM map framework. The post-processing of records from the GPS/INS system and the execution of AT in this product help to improve the resulting average positional error rate to Mxy = 3 - 5 times the pixel size in the resolution of the resulting orthophoto.

FastOrtho VHQ (VH) is based on the possibility of performing analytical aerotriangulation on images applying the MATCH AT method, using selected and retargeted photogrammetric points. This improves positional accuracy to the level of Mxy= 2 – 3 times pixel size and even better when measuring a precise terrain model using the image correlation method.

The FastOrtho system, particularly the (L) and (H) variants produced by GEODIS BRNO, is a powerful, fast and cheap piece of technology, which uses aerial photography and a post-processing system developed by our company specialists.
