Public Green Area „U Vlečky“ Revitalization
The image of month August depicts a project of revitalization of public green area U Vlečky inPrague. The project involves design of public accessible park providing a recreation zone for inhabitants living in neighbouring buildings. Originally, no maintenance was provided in the area, it was covered with naturally seeded bushes, shrubs and ruderal plants. Also, the trees were in a very bad health condition, over-aged and with no visible maintenance ever.
The final design was chosen from four variants elaborated as a study. The main idea of the selected variant is to liberate the area as much as possible, to let the light in and enable access for the local inhabitants.
A threshing-floor like path forms the centre of the designed area, crossing the central element of the whole composition, which is a grass-seeded ditch with irregularly places big stones, evoking a reminiscence of a water stream. Permanent plants are located on the ditch borders. Planting of new trees is designed above all on the area perimeter. A new rest area with benches and an art-work is designed in the north-east part of the area. Park equipment and public lights are also included.
