Oblique Imagery of Flood Damages - PixoView®
In August 2010, the northern part of the Czech Republic was affected by flash floods. GEODIS realized aerial oblique imagery capture mission for the Integrated Rescue System (IRS) needs. 410 km of rivers and streams affected by the flash floods were documented by aerial imaging. In total, there were acquired more than 10 000 oblique images with resolution of 10 cm at nadir (straight down view).
Using the oblique images in GEODIS PixoView® application, one can easily measure lengths, heights, and areas of
captured objects and points coordinates. The PixoView® application also allows the users to display panoramic street
images taken by mobile mapping system, raster images, and 3D vector layers such as cadastral or technical maps.
Apart from the PixoView ® multipurpose use for IRS needs, the oblique images can be used for precise mapping and/or
inventory of captured objects such as traffic signs, power lines, or vegetation. The oblique images and PixoView® are
also a perfect support tool for urban planning, providing more spatial information than classical maps or
conventional aerial maps.
