Great news for all map fans at the end of last year was the launch of a "bird's-eye view" of 140 Czech cities on Czech portal www.mapy.cz. Nicely prepared environment allows inspecting the buildings, monuments and places of interest from several cardinal points on the pictures in higher resolution. Oblique aerial images which were taken primarily for our application PixoView® are now available for inspection to all visitors of this portal.
Display of oblique images via Internet is not entirely new thing. There are several user solutions. If a city decides to have its own portal, for example with a possibility of bigger zooms, it may look like a website of Prague or Nymburk. Picture for January 2012 is a small collage of these two solutions.
